What is the PPWR?
The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, EU 2025/40) is an EU regulation on packaging and packaging waste. It applies uniformly across all member states and aims to reduce packaging waste and improve the recyclability of packaging.
2. Who is affected by the PPWR?
The PPWR applies to all parties that place packaging on the market or use it in the EU—that is, producers, distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers throughout the entire supply chain.
3. When does the PPWR take effect?
The first requirements have been in effect since August 12, 2026. All other PPWR regulations will take effect gradually.
